The reasons people are unbanked can vary.

Iowa has a Bank-On Program that negotiates with banks and credit unions in local communities to reduce barriers to banking and increase access to the financial mainstream.

Residents can find many Iowa banks that don't use ChexSystems along with Iowa second chance checking accounts.

Living without bank account causes families to look toward alternative financial services like check cashing stores to conduct financial business.

Plus, families that live without bank accounts encounter barriers to building savings and assets for a better financial outlook. Check out our list of second chance checking accounts in Iowa. Many second chance bank accounts run a ChexSystems report.

If your ChexSystems record has unpaid debt, consider options at banks that don't use ChexSystems or bank accounts for bad credit.
